Architizer: S House – STOPROCENT Architekci – Warsaw, Poland
Warsaw, Poland
The building was designed on a flat, relatively small plot of land. On the eastern side it is bordered by a built-up adjacent plot and on the southern side with a local access road.
Due to the southern access road, the designers had to face a slightly more difficult than usual task related to the distribution of functions in the building.
It was necessary to separate the living room from the driveway and garage, and to open the house to the south, while maintaining the sense of intimacy of the future residents.
For this purpose, smaller volumes were separated from the body, responsible for individual functions. The garage was located on the south-east side and moved to the street.
The body of the living room, on the other hand, was placed maximally in the depth of the plot on the south-west side.
On the level of foundation of individual parts of the building was also differentiated, placing the living area slightly higher than the garage; and the sleeping area of the building was on the first floor.
The standard program is completed by a gym, guest room and outdoor terrace.
The tectonics of the eastern and northern elevations results from the requirements of the local building law and the necessity to move the walls with a window away from the plot boundary.
Warsaw style
Pavilion-like character of the living room body allows to mix the interior with the garden and creates a friendly space for residents to relax.
Extremely wide sliding windows and the lack of structural elements allow you to enjoy the immediate vicinity of greenery and sun.
Long hoods prevent the interior from overheating in the summer and do not block light in the winter.
The kitchen and dining area has been enriched with a small terrace with a light roof.
A varied façade finish of individual parts of the building emphasizes their autonomous character.
The facade of the garage was designed as ventilated, finished with original fiber cement panels. This motive was repeated in the drawing of the steel elements of the fence and the division of the elements of the external wall. The remaining elevations were designed as neutral – white, at the same time highlighting their consistent horizontal division with chiaroscuro.
